Tim Dobbs - Senior Consultant

Tim joined Redpoint in April 2007 and has since worked on a range of projects covering the fields of trading and risk management, energy market modelling and analysis, and investment analysis; he has also developed several models for the evaluation and management of portfolio risk for various energy utilities. 

Most recently, Tim has managed the development of an Energy System Model (ESM) for the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI).  The ESM is a combined linear programming and simulation model that focuses on technology choices across the entire UK energy system in 2050 (including electricity, transport and heat).

Prior to joining Redpoint, Tim worked for Mighty River Power (MRP), an integrated electricity generation, retail and metering company in New Zealand.  As a Senior Analyst at MRP, Tim advised the company on the risk and management of transmission issues as well as various trading, market and system operation policy issues.  Tim also has experience trading on the NZ wholesale electricity spot and forward markets.

Tim has a first class honours degree in Operations Research from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.
