Redpoint Energy celebrates fifth anniversary

London, 18th January 2010 – – Redpoint Energy is celebrating five successful years as one of Europe’s leading energy consultancies. Redpoint now counts some of Europe’s largest energy companies and financial organisations, as well as government institutions, most notably the UK’s Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Ofgem, the Committee on Climate Change and the European Commission, as clients. It advises on areas including investment strategies, energy transactions, utility strategy and energy policy and regulation.

Oliver Rix, founder and director of Redpoint, says: “Against a background of challenging but exciting times in the energy sector, Redpoint is celebrating five years at the top of its game. We’ve worked hard to stay ahead in these rapidly changing markets by focusing on our high-quality thought leadership and in-depth analysis. Since we began in October 2004, we have built up an enviable client base across the European energy space.”

Philip Grant, fellow founder and director, highlights the role of Redpoint’s staff in the company’s success: “Our people have extensive energy experience, whether from energy companies or previous consulting roles, and an unrivalled understanding of the policy, regulatory, financial and operational frameworks of the European energy markets. This is what has given us our competitive edge, and has allowed us to deliver on a number of high-profile consulting engagements.  Our continued strong growth and rising profile is a real testament to the calibre of our employees.”

Duncan Sinclair, Redpoint’s third founder and director, comments: “As we strive to be at the forefront of cutting-edge analysis on the European energy markets to policymakers and investors, we are constantly developing our analytical capabilities to meet the evolving challenges our clients face.”

Sinclair continues: “One area in which we have successfully deployed our leading edge modelling has been in advising the UK Government on future energy policy. Applying detailed and sophisticated analytical techniques, we have conducted assessments of policies covering renewables, carbon capture and storage, environmental legislation and smart metering.  This has placed us at the forefront of the debate surrounding the decarbonisation of the power sector.”

Grant concludes: “In just five short years, Redpoint Energy has earned a strong reputation as a trusted advisor on energy policy to business, regulators and government. The next five years are shaping up to be a very exciting time for both the sector and Redpoint. With growing demand for our services we expect to add to our team, and expand our service offerings and geographical reach, and we look forward to communicating the latest developments as they happen.”
