Redpoint contributes towards Renewable Energy Strategy

In July 2009, the Government published its Renewable Energy Strategy.  Redpoint made a significant contribution to the strategy document with its report assessing possible reforms to the Renewables Obligation (RO) in light of the required major expansion of renewable electricity generation in the UK.

The objective of the report was to identify the minimum changes that might be required and a shortlist of possible further reforms, and to undertake a detailed comparative cost benefit analysis using dynamic modelling of the UK electricity market under the different options.  We applied our sophisticated modelling of investment dynamics in the GB market and the impact of increasing volumoes of intermittent generation on price levels and price shape.

The results of the study were published in parallel with the Renewables Consultation and can be found on BERR’s website and also downloaded below.
