Redpoint Energy celebrates fifth anniversary

London, 18th January 2010 – – Redpoint Energy is celebrating five successful years as one of Europe’s leading energy consultancies. Redpoint now counts some of Europe’s largest energy companies and financial organisations, as well as government institutions, most notably the UK’s Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Ofgem, the Committee on Climate Change and the European Commission, as clients. It advises on areas including investment strategies, energy transactions, utility strategy and energy policy and regulation.
Redpoint Energy supports UK decarbonisation agenda with major report

We have contributed to the first annual progress report to Government by the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) with a key study on the investment pathways leading towards the decarbonisation of the power sector. The CCC commissioned us to undertake a detailed analysis of the UK’s changing generation mix, and to examine the investment pathways to 2030 that will lead towards the decarbonisation of the power sector. Our report draws on the detailed modelling and analysis to assess the implications for market arrangements.
Redpoint contributes towards Renewable Energy Strategy

In July 2009, the Government published its Renewable Energy Strategy. Redpoint made a significant contribution to the strategy document with its report assessing possible reforms to the Renewables Obligation (RO) in light of the required major expansion of renewable electricity generation in the UK.
Redpoint helps EC manage security of supply

Redpoint has been working with the European Commission DG Environment on a study to develop and test a methodology to assess the impact of climate change policies on energy security. Working as a member of a consortium we have applied our expertise in security of supply to help develop a structured methodology that will enable policymakers to conduct policy evaluations in a more consistent way.
Domestic smart metering in the UK comes a step closer

11th May 2009, London. All homes in Britain will have smart meters installed by 2020 under plans published by the UK government, based on a report written by Redpoint Energy and Baringa Partners.
Tidal potential

The BWEA (British Wind Energy Association) published a Redpoint report at its Wave and Tidal conference in Bath. The report describes five potential benefits of a more diverse energy mix in the UK. It concludes that marine technology can ‘increase the cost effectiveness of variable renewables in the overall generation mix’.
