Junior Developer
Evolving markets, environmental targets, new technologies, infrastructure expansion, security of supply: the energy sector is facing a period of unprecedented change, and with it a host of new opportunities and risks.
We advise the organisations at the heart of this transformation, providing economic, commercial and strategic consulting to energy companies, financial institutions, governments and regulators. Examples of our work include company valuations for mergers and acquisitions, optimising portfolios from fuel contracting to generation dispatch, developing hedging strategies for vertically integrated energy companies, and advising government on the costs and benefits of different future energy policy options.
Redpoint is a climbing term that reflects our ethos: the clean execution of a new route following careful analysis and preparation. Our clients value our deep experience and innovative techniques in addressing the challenges they face.
We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our team as a developer, working directly with business users to develop energy analytical models. You will have an excellent analytical degree qualification and strong verbal and written communication skills. You will have an ability to demonstrate expert proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. C, C++, .NET), strong database development knowledge and up to three years experience in applying these skills.
It will be important that you are able to show initiative in working with business users to enhance Redpoint’s existing model suite. You will also take on responsibility for developing analytical tools on client projects, including periods of time onsite with clients. In order to facilitate this you will have an ability to translate complicated concepts into model design and to effectively communicate these to business users.
Any experience with model development and user interface design would be an advantage. Experience in handling large data volumes and working within an Excel and VBA environment would also be an advantage as would proficiency in SQL.
Applications MUST include a detailed cover letter outlining why you are interested in joining Redpoint. Applicants must also hold eligibility to work in the U.K. The deadline for applications is 30 July 2010.
